Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

@Useful_Mistake are you serious? Did you miss the news on Friday? One of the biggest diplomatic disasters since the Treaty of Versailles just happened, it is related to Ukraine, it happened in the Oval Office and involved the President and Vice President and you are picking nits about using this topic over that topic?

You have your own threads to talk about how hecking brave Zelenskerino was, or how putlerino Trump was. That's even pretending that the discussion at all revolved around the event, which it mainly didn't. You either police one another, or I will police you. This forum has nearly 200k threads, and most are able to keep its users generally on topic.

maybe the mods were working bigly and I missed the boggles but that seemed like discussions were pretty
civil for us on those matters?

tbh I certainly understand why most of the time Ukraine/Russia is off topic but yeah this was really specifically US related, maybe a spare a&n general for the event and the fallout?

I literally do not care. I deleted some hundred posts if not more that had absolutely fucking nothing to do with US politics and were just people sperging about DA Jeeeeews, Ukraine war, the fucking 1st World War Alt larp, Russian Empire, and so on. There was around 10 whole pages (worth of posts) that got deleted.

Dang dude. You should probably take a break if this is your attitude. Isn't your job to get rid of illegal shit and egregious violations of the rules? Off topic stuff is the sort of thing we can ignore ourselves; you're going to go insane trying to police all of that. And if history is any indication, you'll end up just like your predecessors and vanish entirely.

You're a good poster and a popular contributor in addition to being a moderator, but that doesn't mean you own the thread. You have to let the discussion flow on its own. Have a comfy Nasim and relax a bit, friend.

Is there a way to implement a forum metagame where you have to "guess the race" before you can click the thread? Then the good and honest results of the poll and the article can be viewed. It could even be an advanced poll where you have to guess the race of the criminal and the victim respectively.

For example:

Prefix: US
Thread title: Man pushes elderly woman onto traintracks in brazen random attack
Subtitle: New York subway commuters restrain homeless man before NY police arrive

Guess the race of the attacker:
1) White
2) Black
3) Hispanic
4) Asian
5) Other
6) Abstain from voting

Guess the race of the victim:
1) White
2) Black
3) Hispanic
4) Asian
5) Other
6) Abstain from voting

Correct answer: Black male attacker, Asian female victim

Another example:

Prefix: EU
Thread title: Paris in state of emergency as French man goes on stabbing rampage, 50 dead
Subtitle: The French man was a recent migrant to France with no known criminal record

Guess the race of the attacker: (enter race here)

Correct answer: Algerian male

I recall pointing out the fact that people kept responding to bait posts, and how retarded it was. But for some God forsaken reason it just keeps happening. That's why I've instead started using the thread as a way to gain passive news about current American politics.

We must never forget what was lost. 4 years of our lives that you can not get back. All for the sake of their Woke Ideology.

I have a bunch of Tesla related articles I want to share but I don't want to shit up the forum with multiple posts. Would it be a good idea to make a Tesla article general thread? I know or at least I think there is a lolcow thread for Elon too, but I am more interested in the company then him.

Edit: Or maybe just a thread for EV companies in general since so many are just scams.

Noticing more websites are adopting anti-scraping tools to stop archives from doing their thing. I think it’s called PerimeterX? Anyone know how to bypass it or should I just start making a list of sites to avoid posting?
