The bad side of this is if someone does sue you, especially someone fishing for a settlement that has never even met you, you have to hire representation because it's a distinct entity from yourself and you're not licensed to practice law.
In general it's a bad idea to go pro se (represent yourself) even in a nuisance lawsuit because if you're not licensed to practice law the possibility of you making a technical error like missing a filing deadline or some rule of the court is not insignificant. For a landlord I would wager this is a cost they have built in.

(There are some jurisdictions in which certain courts, particularly small claims, do not allow attorneys, in which case somebody representing the company [manager, president, whatever] reps the company instead.)

Isn't this how DSP basically was able to squeeze his bankruptcy since mostly everything was declared as a "business expense"?
Phil's 2020 bankruptcy filing states that he has no other names and no business EINs used for the prior 8 years (so 2012-2020) so from all apparent accounts, DSP doesn't have a business/company/corporation for his YouTube activities You can claim business expenses on a personal income tax return, but doing it via an actual company that files its own tax returns has advantages.

NAL but if the business is an entity couldn't the owner declare bankruptcy due to lack of funds and that's the end of it? Or does the lawsuit then go over the owner(s)?
Karl was sued in a personal capacity, he can't just bankruptcy the business and it goes away. (The same applies to Karl doing bankruptcy since court ordered judgments/fees are not discharged in Australian bankruptcy). It may afford Karl the opportunity to prolong the sale of his house and getting some sort of court ordered schedule for a certain income amount per month to satisfy the debt, and it may help Karl reduce or avoid having to pay his own counsel.

Of note is that as I understand it Jobst spent a little under $750K on his defense; as I understand it, the GoFundMe gave Karl 200K, and Notch gave Karl $300K. So it's possible that Jobst's assertion that "it's nowhere near $1.8 million AUD" could be true because his lawyers would have been substantially compensated (~$500K of around $750K AUD). Even if we assume that the rest is a writeoff for Jobst's lawyers, he still owes over a million AUD for Billy's judgment + legal fees and is pretty fucked by all obvious accounts.

I'm still not a lawyer, but if Karl decides to play games by transferring assets to his wife or his company to say he doesn't own them... courts frown on such shenanigans. If he had the house in the corporate name years ago it still would probably be pierced if Karl was the sole owner or substantially in control, but if he starts moving stuff around after losing the case to try to claim to be a penniless pauper as an individual, judges do not like that sort of thing and he's going to get absolutely hammered,

For what it's worth, I thought the Rickeys sauce was actually quite good even if overpriced. I didn't try the other two.
It seems like it's locally available in gallon sizes down in Florida in a few places, where it's comparably priced to other hot sauces. I'd definitely buy a gallon of this for any reasonable price and think it would make excellent buffalo wings. It's just priced too high for small bottles to use it that way.

The hot sauce in the bottle size that can be bought online for $15 can be found at a discount grocers in south Florida for $3 a bottle. The gallon size is available at the west palm and Port Saint Lucie Sam’s clubs for $12 but at the Gordon supermarket has it for $23.

I say it’s a delicious sauce at $3 a bottle or $12 a gallon, and I will stock up next time I am in that area.

I know it's unlikely Billy's judgement could be discharged in a bankruptcy, but I really hope it isn't.

What I'm curious about is if Karl even offered some sort of payment plan at all (which would have been the smart thing to do), and perhaps Billy just rejected it. Given Karl's pathetic $3K settlement offer, it wouldn't be too crazy to think he offered some retarded $500 a month payment plan too.

That is what I think too, Billy pushed him into it deliberately by refusing a payment plan. Now someone will evaluate what Karl has, what his income was and make a suggestion.
But there is no way Karl will leave this with his assets untouched. Which is good thing if you are the creditor, someone will now take a close look at Karl's finances and possessions.

If I were to accept a payment plan from him, what I would have done is done the math and totaled up how much my personal life and bills cost every month on average, and say that's your monthly payment, take it or leave it. Either that, or we're selling your house and I get all the money needed to pay me off.

I'm going to moralfag and just say that I feel really bad for his wife and kid. Imagine your dad putting your family in serious debt because he fought the fucking Donkey Kong cheater for no reason, lost and made himself look like a retard in front of everyone.

They're absolutely innocent in all of this, no doubt. You know that if she raised concerns about this Karl ran her over with his fluffed up confidence, leaving her to just trust his judgement. Shitty place to be.

Feel bad for the kid, not the wife. Unless he locks his wife up in a cellar and only draws her out to congratulate him on his speedrunning achievements, she should be fully aware of what she was getting herself into. Poor choices should not garner sympathy. The kid didn’t have a choice when being born into the world by an autistic albino speedrunning weirdo and a chink with a concave chest.

Is there any proof that Karl has actually declared bankruptcy outside what would appear to be a shitpost from Billy?
Proof positive doesn't yet exist, but it's much more likely than not.

The bankruptcy register is apparently a paid thing in Australia so unless somebody is going to pony up to run a search that and Billy saying it is about the best we'll get. Preponderance of evidence says that Jobst probably did given the amount of the judgment owed, Billy's lawyers having a reason to know that (and therefore him), and Jobst weighing it.

Also in terms of asset protection, unless Jobst is secretly megaloaded (in which case, why beg fans for donations for legal costs), bankruptcy is the only sensible move. Even if he's still fucked in the end, it prevents the full dicking from happening immediately.
