I have not denied that the contemporary American government is a corrupt and sinful institution with their own interests at heart. We do have our fair share of problems too - everyone is at eachother’s throats 24/7, wages are stagnant, the cost of living is skyrocketing, etc.

But rotten at its core? I find that absurd. You’re talking about the same country that ended European imperialism across Latin America. The country that took the ideas of constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties and a representative republic and made them mainstream worldwide. The country that stepped in to liberate Europe from fascism and Asia from the hellish occupation of the Japanese during the Second World War (a cause that the Mexican people largely supported, mind you, to the point where many Mexicans volunteered to fight under the American flag). The country that systematically broke down the communist tyranny that spread over Europe in its wake. There’s a lot to be proud of.

Let’s not act like Mexico is a shining beacon either. There are still problems lingering from both the Porfiriato and the 71 year uninterrupted reign of the PRI.
