Furry Fandom and Drama General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Despite the drama and controversies it's amazing how the second Dragoneer drops dead the site starts to actually get updates after being stagnant for 2 decades. It really shows how much he was weighing down the website.
Definitely adds credit to the "Yak had dirt on Dragoneer" theory that's been passed around for years. Dragoneer dies and suddenly code-related things start moving right along with no issue and no mention of Yak preventing it.

Looks like Yak was the one who left staff, wonder what the reason was.

The question post-dates the answer.

It was theorized forever that Yak was holding things up because of (charitably) curmudgeonliness or outright malice going along with the 'dirt on dragoneer' theory. Him being out is, for whatever reason, why progress is being made.

Hope they do a DEEP scan for backdoors.

It varies. Part of it is artists charging more so that they can live off of making suits now, fun fur is technically harder to find but it's not like it's worth its weight in gold, either.

I have seen makers who still do stuff for around $1K. And, if furries were more inclined to make things themselves, a basic fullbody suit would cost less than that. But i guess sewing is hard.
There is fursuit elitism now a day and was "art" clout before that. People would commission popular artists just to have an image of their character made by xyz popufur. Hell it even got to a point where some artists refused to make commissions for people simply because their gallery was full with MsPaint. Same thing with fursuit makers, worse, I think are the fursuit makers that want to control what fursuiters can do with their suits. Regardless of opinion, it is objectively an artificially inflated and overvalued subset of the fandom. DIY Punks and the DIY spirit is dead.

Well speak of the fucking Devil. Sure enough. Explains a lot.

I mean, that still happens today, especially with things like YCH auctions and shit. Miles-DF comes to mind, people will drop $2,000+ to be included in one of his YCHs simply because then they get to say they did.
