Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

I don't remember with enough detail and can't be bothered looking this up. As someone that watches and enjoys Strang New Worlds. It feels like that break down many episodes of the season around what character the episode will spotlight. Then let that dictate the tone of the episode. Build fit from there.

You could track the stories of the characters and then probably figure out where they're at and how that'll dictate the tone of the episode and where their personal story will go.

Spock's story is the relationship ending, so we get the end of that and they like to lean into humor with Spock.

La'an's stories have been darker and focused on her PTSD. She's moving through that, so we'll get something where she progresses further to enjoy life.

Ortega will now have a dark PTSD focused storyline this season.

And so forth.

I can't stand Strange New Worlds, it's fake nostalgia for tourists. They keep bringing up "iconic" characters who shouldn't be there at the time. Also can they stop ripping off other movies and JJ Trek?

What I hate the most about SNW (I don't watch the show, only the reviews by Cullen or Nitpicking Nerd) is the way they portray Spock. They think The Cage was 100% canon instead of one of many pilots for the network. Spock in the episode The Cage wasn't the "final" Spock, the character was at best a space mutt with pointy ears. I might be wrong but I believe the second pilot was the episode where Kirk and his crew were wearing the same clothes from The Cage crew.

I've hated every fresh-faced version of Kirk and Spock they’ve trotted out so far. No one liked recast Han Solo. Let these legends die in peace, for the love of God.
Original content is verboeten. Only recasts, reboots, rehashes, and retardation.

Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, 007, and the Doctor have all been successfully recast many times, to the point where there are both serious-minded discussions and absurd flamewars one who the best are. While I'd hate to presume logical thinking on the parts of Paramount or Disney, precedent exists.

At least with 007, it's a designation. Someone else could be designated Agent 007.

I actually like Strange New Worlds, and while I think Ethan Peck does a good job as Spock, the show doesn't really understand how Vulcans work.

There's an episode where Spock becomes human, and they act like being Vulcan naturally makes someone stoic, not years of mental training, so Spock struggles to control his emotions. Hell, that same episode has a scene where Spock eats bacon with his hands, which goes against Vulcan etiquette.
Also, nothing ever happened between 2161-2254 and 2293-2364. Nothing, absolutely nothing to see here.
What about Section 31---(dies in shuttle explosion)

Which sucks because if it was still not Current Year, there could've been a good sequel series set in 25th century or beyond, with that same optimistic outlook as pre-JJ ST.

At least VOY and ENT had some glimpses into the future, like with the USS Relativity and the Enterprise J.

Kurtzman will read the screenplays I send, just you wait!

Enough of The Cage was canonised in The Menagerie to make Smiling Spock a thing.

Haven't watched the video but I hate dumb shit like this.

People bitched about the Vulcanians on Enterprise because they WEREN'T LIKE SPOCK, who was a half Human child of a noble Vulcanian family. Then it's revealed in the final season of Enterprise that it was Romulan infiltration of Vulcanian society, because Vulcan can't possibly have a complicated society with Dunning-Kruger in full effect like in every Human society.

SNW takes place like 10 years before TOS while Spock is a junior officer, of course Spock is going to be different. There's valid reasons to get pissed at a sudden huge Klingon War in Discovery where the Federation gets BTFO to the degree that Klingons have conquered Starbase One (we just... forget about all that in SNW, just like how season 2 of DIS is much better than season 1 due to it essentially being season 0 of SNW)

All that being said there's a good contrast with what viewers think Spock as and what Spock actually could have been like in the SNW/LD crossover episode with Boimler being visibly disturbed at seeing Spock laughing. And it really is disturbing; a lot of it is used for good effect.
