Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

actually, being the trabi motor a 2 stroker, it will never last as long as any half decent 4 stroke
Issues with 2 smokers is mostly related to fouling spark plugs. Rotary engines are actually 2 smokers but the oiling is separate so they smoke less.
The driving ability of a 2 vs 4 banger is worse for 2 as it can't provide engine braking in downhill scenario and as such it has a free wheel clutch. There is also no turbo possible for 2 stroke engine and the torque curve is really unfit for a car.
Anyways, it’s a shame we don’t have anything like the Trabant. A cheap, reliable car that you can fix yourself.
That's just romantisation of a shit car. It wasn't cheap, costed 1 year of wages in the time where american cars had air conditioning and power steering.
This pile of crap is significantly better: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tata_Nano
Trabant isn't easy to repair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq5jTB9S5GU
It's a 2 stroke with inside sliding valves that fail.
You will also die in a frontal crash due to frontally mounted fuel tank.

Forgot the most important part. 2 smoker rings don't last since they are held in place and constantly scraped by intake or exhaust ports. You get much better compression in a 4 stroke engine and rings last basically the life of car.

No wonder Ukrainian official losses are so oddly low…

And a really weird story from India.

Some Russian woman was found living in a cave with two children.

Totally unrelated to war or politics, just a really weird hippie lady who managed to live in a cave for years and even reproduce (seemingly not with a local.)

That really is an odd story, those kids look way more healthy and well groomed than one would expect living in India a cave.
Ikr? And where the f are the kids father? Did she just sit in the jungle and wait to seduce some Russian backpacker?!

while we are in sunday motor sperging mood :cunningpepe:

there is a large number of reasons why a classic 2 stroke will never last long, from the ports in the cylinder, to the sketchy lubrication of wrist pin and journals and so on. where 2 strokers are unbeatable is specific power and power to weight.
emissions and fuel consumptions are also very high, even tho direct injection has solved some of that.
just to put things into perspective, an aviation rotax 582, 2 stroke 2 cyls, will have a TBO (time between overhauls) of 300 hrs,. while a 912, 4 cyls boxer 4 stroke, is 2000 hours.

the trabant was indeed a shitty car. if one is looking for a simple, durable, easy to fix car i would look into any small european car with turbodiesel engine and mechanical fuel injection. they will last basically forever and still be modern enough to be usable.

one of the most attractive small european cars from the sixties is probably this one. very rare now and prices are very high. 500cc twin cyl engine rear mounted.
this car weights a lot less than a Tesla battery pack.

They trade torque for power. Kind of exact opposite you want in a car.
Realistically, they aren't even that great in power, just don't have torque and the only merit is power in useless rpm's.
Rotax 912, 60kg 59,5kW, 582, 50kg and 48kW
4 banger has better power to weight ratio and it can run unleaded.
These shitbangers also are terrible in everything since they have to run reduction gear to spin the prop. It does make more power, but it's just another thing that can fail.

Pretty much. But you can also get from 2-3-4 cylinders of TD power with CR injection for nice oomph while driving. Or go on the low end and get Aixam 500 with 2/3 cyl kubota that will outlive you. Only has 500 or what cc.
The issue of any car nowdays is really maintenance costs. Good mechanics are rare and they all charge you as much as a dentist.
If you are in europe, a saxo would be reasonably cheap daily commuter. Fiats with 1.9 jtdm are also decent. VW are hit and miss. 2.0 TDI isn't really anything to write home about in the modern eco package and the 1.2 lupos are just the cheapest diesel you can get around in. They get 50-60MPG on average.
I would much rather have a newer car than drive a trabant, even if it drank a bit more. Modern engines are pretty efficient and trabant doesn't really have any heating unless you count the monoxide generator exhaust routed inside the cabin.
Cars past 2000 are overall nice to drive. The soviet era nostalgia is just that. People would hate the car the next day they would have it at home. Slow, tiny and gets bullied by everyone on road. The lights are also utter shite. It is nor cheap not economical. Even the old worn out honda is a much better ride. The tax is also "the same" if you drive a rust bucket or a modern sedan.

Based off the statements from the locals within the Pokrovsk area that are still around alongside statements from Ukrainian soldiers passed on through the people they know, the Russians have been moving into the towns of Zatyshok and Sukhets'ke and have been conducting small attacks into the mine east of Rodyns'ke. We likely won't see very much footage in this area until either the Russians or Ukrainians are in a comfortable position. I predict that we'll see a clear update a few days from now unless something crazy happens.

"Will expand combat capabilities": "High-precision systems" developed a cassette for the "Kornet" ATGM, containing four "Bulat" missiles

The Russian anti-tank system "Kornet" has acquired the ability to fire up to 4 shots without reloading. The holding company "High-Precision Systems" has developed a special cartridge for the ATGM. This was reported by Rostec.

The holding's specialists have developed a cassette that can accommodate four new lungs missiles 9M134 "Bulat". This cassette is installed in place of a regular missile, after which the ATGM operator can hit the target. You can fire one missile at a time, or two at once in "tandem" mode. As explained by the holding, this solution significantly expands the combat capabilities of the anti-tank complex.

The specialists of High-Precision Complexes have provided the ability to install a cassette with four Bulats instead of one regular missile on any Kornet launcher. The new ammunition increases the variability of the complex's use - now its typical targets include objects for which the power of the standard Kornet missile is excessive.

- said in a statement.

The 9M134 missile is designed to destroy medium-armored targets, including those equipped with dynamic protection, lightly armored and unarmored vehicles. The munition is capable of destroying targets at a range of up to 3,5 km, the warhead is tandem. The control system is jam-proof, with laser beam control. The average armor penetration of armor equipped and unequipped with ERA is 250 mm. The caliber of the missile is 82 mm. The length of the container with the missile is 831 mm. The mass of the missile in the container is 6,5 kg, the mass of the warhead is 1,6 kg (presumably).

Testing of the Bulat missile was completed in February of this year, and the missile is currently undergoing experimental military operation in the SVO zone.
So something like this
but instead, it's from one container and you can fire all 4 without reloading

Putin meets Xi on September, 3. Xi has issued an official invitation to Trump to join, Trump hasn't responded yet. Zelensky suddenly changed his mind and requested more talks in Istanbul NOW NOW NOW NOW. (:_(

Deepseek, what is the Potsdam Conference.
Has anyone from the Chinese Foreign ministry confirmed this? I saw this claim bandied around a while ago with the usual "unnamed sources".
